The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has announced that it has delivered a cumulative minimum of 620 hours of electricity supply to its customers via the 83 Band A feeders from April 2024 to date.

Engr. Francis Agoha, Acting Managing Director of IBEDC, confirmed this in a statement obtained by Advisors Reports on Thursday.

According to Agoha, the achievement was verified during a performance evaluation period monitored by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

The IBEDC initially started with 30 Band A feeders in April 2024. it subsequently received NERC approval to upgrade an additional 30 feeders later in April, followed by another 30 feeders in May, and an additional 15 feeders, totaling 83 feeders.

These Band A feeders, according to the DisCo are categorized into 34 – 11kV and 49 – 33kV feeders.

Agoha stated, “IBEDC remains committed to meeting the service delivery expectations of all our customers across various tariff bands.

“We continue to enhance our network upgrades within our coverage areas to ensure consistent and reliable electricity supply.

Additionally, we are working diligently to improve power supply to other bands significantly,” the Acting MD said.

IBEDC therefore commended its customers and NERC for their support in achieving this significant milestone.

The company reiterated its commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement, underscoring its mission to provide reliable and efficient electricity to its valued customers.

Recall that NERC approved a significant increase in the tariff for Band A customers, from around N66/kWh to N225/kWh, effective April 3, 2024.

That 240% increase, according to NERC, was due to rising costs, including a 59% increase in the exchange rate and a 63% rise in generation costs.
