” We followed due process in land acquisition for our Delta gas plant” – Shitu,

Oredola Adeola

Axxela, a leading indigenous gas and power company, has disclosed that the acquisition of land for its planned gas processing plant in Umuseti, Delta State, was conducted following extensive due diligence and in full compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Omolara Shitu, Corporate Communications Manager of Axxela, stated this in a release obtained by Advisors Reports on Tuesday, addressing concerns over an alleged dispute regarding the acquisition.

“As a responsible corporate organization, Axxela remains committed to global best practices that uphold legal processes, community interests, and sustainable development,” Shitu acknowledged.

She further emphasized that the company conducted extensive due diligence before securing the land, including consultations with relevant family houses, engagement with regulatory authorities, and adherence to statutory procedures governing such transactions.

“We have also obtained a registered deed of assignment, with the Governor’s consent granted in December 2024,” she added.

Shitu highlighted Axxela’s proactive approach to community engagement, noting that discussions were held with key stakeholders, including family representatives, local leaders, and community representatives—before the acquisition to ensure transparency and mutual understanding.

“Axxela values strategic and constructive engagement with host communities. We remain open to dialogue with any concerned parties to resolve perceived issues amicably.

“However, we strongly discourage the spread of misinformation that could escalate tensions or misrepresent our brand’s integrity,” she stated.

The company’s spokesperson described the planned gas processing facility as a strategic investment that will create jobs, support local businesses, and enhance infrastructure development in the region.

“The facility will foster long-term partnerships that drive shared prosperity,” Shitu explained.
