… restores 165MW supply to Ikeja, Eko, Ibadan DisCos

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has completed repairs and restored normal operations on the Ikeja-West/Osogbo 330kV transmission line, 32 days after the power infrastructure was damaged by a combination of severe rainfall and a trailer collision.

TCN, in a statement released on Wednesday, announced that the affected transmission towers—specifically towers 524, 526 to 528—were fully restored and energized as of 7:30 p.m. on May 4, 2025.

Advisors Reports gathered that the incident, which occurred on April 2, 2025, approximately 14.9 kilometers from the Ikeja-West Transmission substation, initially caused a load loss of 165 megawatts (MW).

However, TCN managed to reroute the lost load through alternative lines to mitigate the impact on electricity distribution.

With the successful completion of repair works and full restoration of the Ikeja-West/Osogbo line, TCN confirmed that bulk electricity supply has now been normalized to the networks of Ikeja Electric, Eko Electricity Distribution Company, and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
