The Mainstream Foundation, in collaboration with Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), has provided free eye surgeries, medications, and consultation services to residents of Yola metropolis as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.
The two-day free eye clinic was held last Wednesday and Thursday at the Ajiya Primary Health Care Centre in Jimeta, Yola.
It featured a team of specialised doctors who performed cataract and pterygium surgeries, distributed free reading glasses and eye medications, and attended to the patients.
Zayyanu Illo, Programme Manager at Mainstream Foundation, commenting on the programme said, “The Eye Clinic Medical Outreach has become a hallmark of our health interventions.
“And since YEDC is an organization under Quest Electricity, a subsidiary of Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited (MESL), we felt it was time to come and visit Yola metropolis with our team of specialized doctors.”
The outreach programme, according to her, was a success, with numerous beneficiaries expressing gratitude to Mainstream Foundation and YEDC for bringing world-class medical care to their doorstep.
“I had almost lost hope of ever seeing clearly again, but thanks to this programme, I can now see my grandchildren’s smiles,” beamed Aisha Umar, a grateful beneficiary.
Mainstream Foundation and YEDC reaffirmed their commitment to improving the well-being of communities in the region, positioning themselves as a clear example of the positive impact corporate organizations can have on society.
