Nigeria’s national power grid collapsed once again on Thursday at precisely 11:29 a.m., just two days after a previous breakdown, plunging much of the country into darkness.

This latest development marks the 11th time the national grid had collapsed in 2024.

Details later …

Data from the Nigerian System Operator showed a dramatic drop in output from 21 active electricity generation companies, from 2,323.65 megawatts (MW) at 11:00 a.m. to zero by 11:29 a.m.

Both Ikeja Electric and Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) confirmed the collapse, assuring customers they are working with stakeholders to restore power swiftly.
