Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, in collaboration with the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), has wrapped up a rigorous Technical Development Programme, empowering 50 individuals as proficient linesmen/technicians via its renowned Mainstream Academy.

These adept professionals have been mobilized to enhance operations and elevate service standards across the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) network regions.

This was confirmed in a statement released by the management of Mainstream Academy and obtained by Advisors Reports on Tuesday.

According to the Academy, the training programme was designed to furnish the beneficiaries with the needed essential skill set to become competent linesmen to fill manpower gaps in the power sector.

Advisors Reports gathered that 46 out of the trainees possessed a National Diploma-ND in Electrical Engineering while four have a National Certificate of Education in Electrical Technology.

The Academy also stated that all the trainees were posted to various business units of Yola Electricity Distribution Company for hands-on job experience to make the programme more robust.

It said, ” YEDC is the distribution company saddled with the responsibility of distributing electricity in the 4 states of the northeast, namely Adamawa, Borno, Taraba and Yobe.

“This particular set of highly trained linesmen/technicians will be deployed to strengthen the rehabilitation work of YEDC which is geared toward improving the quality of electricity supply to customers within its area of service.

“It is anticipated that such partnerships between Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited and the Northeast Development Commission will address the human capital development challenges of the northeast while also addressing problems of skill gaps in the power sector,” the statement confirmed.

Usman Umar, Executive Director, Corporate Services Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, in his remark said,” The certification and empowerment was dedicated to honouring the dedication, resilience, and achievements of 50 young graduates who have successfully completed their training under the auspices of the Mainstream Academy, in collaboration with the Northeast Development Commission.

“This graduation ceremony not only symbolizes the culmination of months of hard work and dedication but also serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of both the Northeast Development Commission and Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited towards the empowerment and upliftment of our youth.

” In an area that has endured the brunt of unfortunate hardship over the past decade, initiatives such as these are beacons of hope, illuminating the path towards a brighter and more prosperous future.

The Executive Director, Corporate Services Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited commended the graduates for their perseverance, determination, and growth, charging that their dedication and hard work demonstrated the limitless potential that resides within each and every one of them.

He said, “As you embark on this new chapter of your lives, equipped with the knowledge and skills imparted to you during your training, I have no doubt that you will continue to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to the development of our communities.

“My sincere appreciation to the Northeast Development Commission for their unwavering support and commitment to the advancement of education and capacity development in the Northeast.

“It is through partnerships such as these that we are able to create lasting and sustainable change in our communities.

” Yola Electricity Distribution Company, a subsidiary of Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, the primary provider of electricity distribution services in the Northeast, understands the critical importance of reliable and accessible electricity in driving socio-economic development.

“By working hand in hand with the Northeast Development Commission, there are boundless opportunities for collaboration that will not only benefit our organizations but, more importantly, the people of the Northeast.

“Some of these benefits include but not limited to increased stability, economic growth, infrastructure development, job creation and socioeconomic integration,” the Executive Director, Corporate Services Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited.

While calling for renewed commitment and collaboration towards the advancement of the North-East zone, Umar requested for collaboration of all stakeholders in the zone to overcome obstacles and build a future filled with promise and prosperity.
