The Women in Energy Network (WIEN) has approached the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to seek support for training and funding for 60 women who are now registered with the specific aim of helping to develop their capacities and prepare them for opportunities in Nigeria’s energy transition journey.

This request was made during a courtesy visit by Eyono Fatayi-Williams, President of WIEN, who led a delegation of the non-profit organization to meet with Engr. Felix Ogbe, Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, and other Board members at the Board’s liaison office in Abuja on Thursday.

According to Fatayi-Williams, the Network intends to engage with the Board to provide training and funding for the 60 women who are now registered for this purpose.

She further solicited funding from the Board for STEM projects, which according to her are aimed at keeping young women in school.

The WIEN President also appeals for general support for the Network, which according to her has approximately 600 members, including 30 founding members and 21 corporate members such as Sahara Group and NLNG, among others.

Meanwhile Engr. Ogbe, in his response to the request by the WIEN delegation, assured them of the Board’s commitment to the advancement of women, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

He said, “The Board will collaborate and partner with the Women in Energy Network in key areas like workshops and training to further galvanize their objectives and enhance capacity building.”
