The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has disclosed that the Federal Government’s decision to establish an Auto Industrial Park in Osogbo, Osun State, is driven by the proximity of the state to sources of natural resources.
Mr. Joseph Osanipin, Director General of NADDC, made this known on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call to Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, on the sideline of his working visit to the site of the proposed park.
Osanipin identified Osun and Anambra States as strategic locations based on important factors such as logistics and nearness to natural resources.
He therefore reiterated the Council’s commitment to revitalise local production of auto component parts through the proposed industrial parks.
The NADDC’s DG further stressed that the proposed Auto Industrial Park in Osun State stems from the need to create an enabling environment for the auto industry to thrive through infrastructure development.
This, according to him, will enhance production capacity for both indigenous manufacturers of automobiles and auto components parts.
He therefore highlighted the significance of Osogbo as a pivotal site for the auto park’s development.
He emphasized the need to strengthen the existing relationship between Osun state and NADDC towards advancing the Nigerian Auto Sector.
He also mentioned areas of collaboration required from the state government in order for it to maximise its potential for employment generation and economic boost.
Governor Adeleke in his response, acknowledged the outlined requirements and commended the initiative of the NADDC for deeming it fit to site the industrial park at Osun state.
He therefore pledged the support of the Osun State government and directed relevant authorities to facilitate necessary actions to ensure the success of the project.
