Funmi Ogbue, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of Zigma, has been honoured as the “Outstanding Woman in Energy (Local Content)” at the 4th Women in Maritime & Energy Awards.

She was honoured alongside other trailblazing women who are fostering inclusion and driving meaningful change within the maritime and energy sectors in Nigeria.

The WIME Awards 2025 took place on Friday, March 28, at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.

Commenting on the award, Ogbue stated, “This award is a testament to the long hours, dedication, and relentless pursuit of gender development and advocacy that we have championed through the Women in Energy Network (WEIN).

It also acknowledges our efforts in positioning Zigma as a leading integrated oil and gas company, alongside the strides we have made at Jake Riley Limited.”

She emphasized her commitment to creating opportunities for the transformation of public sector entities and training professionals for career growth and increased productivity.

“The award ceremony, held on Friday, March 28, 2024, at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, brought together distinguished guests to celebrate the outstanding achievements of women in the maritime and energy sectors who are making meaningful contributions to their industries and society at large.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award at such a pivotal moment in my journey. It serves as a powerful affirmation of the work we have done and a reminder of the responsibility we carry to push for even greater impact.

“For me, this is more than just an award—it is a call to action to do even more,” she said.

In a statement, Tunbosun Afolayan, Executive Director of the Women in Maritime and Energy (WiME) Awards, highlighted some of Ogbue’s notable achievements.

According to him, “Ogbue’s unwavering commitment to building a strong and inclusive community within the Women in Energy Network (WEIN) and her efforts to foster meaningful initiatives in the energy sector have been recognized and applauded.”
