The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) has set ambitious goals for 2024, focusing on enhancing advocacy for the implementation of the Nigeria’s Decade of Gas initiative, addressing gas industry challenges, hosting business forums, launching innovative training programs, unveiling a new membership structure, and establishing the inaugural NGA Student Chapter.

Mr. Akachukwu Nwokedi, the NGA President, made this known in a statement obtained by Advisors Reports on Monday.

The foremost advocate and voice of the Nigerian gas industry in the statement emphasised that it is gearing up for a dynamic an impactful year with a strategic focus on initiatives and programmes aimed at enhancing its value proposition for members and stakeholders in the gas sector.

The NGA, in its unwavering commitment to advancing the interests of its members and promoting gas as a sustainable and efficient energy source to propel the nation’s economy, in the statement, further outlined key deliverables for the year to include its forthcoming business forums and the introduction of refreshed international learning solution training programmes featuring new bespoke organisational training modules.

It said, “Members are encouraged to participate actively in these planned events throughout the year.

“By playing a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of the Decade of Gas initiative, the NGA will intensify advocacy efforts on critical industry issues, ensuring that relevant authorities promptly address concerns and pain points.

“The Association is also finalising efforts to enhance regular communication channels with members through the imminent launch of a new membership portal, thereby fostering seamless interactions,” the statement revealed.

Nwokedi in his comment on the agenda for the year said, “As we embark on a transformative year, our focus at the Association is on steadfastly driving innovation, fostering inclusivity, and advocating for the creation and sustained preservation of value for our members and the gas industry at large.”

He also announced the Council’s recent approval of a new membership framework, adding that the multi-tiered system is designed to enhance inclusivity via the introduction of new membership categories and benefits. I will share further details on its framework in due course,” he said.

Mr. Nwokedi further highlighted the introduction of the first-ever NGA Student Chapter, aimed at enriching value offerings for student members and fostering the development of future industry leaders.

The NGA President stated, “Additionally, the NGA plans to roll out Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) programs in collaboration with strategic partners, promoting awareness and inclusivity within the gas sector.

“Leveraging our position, the NGA aims to become a reliable industry information resource center of choice, facilitating gas investment promotion and enhancing Nigeria’s representation and participation in International Gas Union (IGU) activities and events, contributing to global conversations on gas industry advancements.

“Together, let us embrace the opportunities that 2024 presents as we work collaboratively to shape a resilient and vibrant future for the gas sector,” Mr Nwokedi added.

The NGA President therefore emphasised the commitment of the association towards deepening the activities of its seven study groups covering the entire gas value chain, driving technical research, development, and credible solutions on pertinent issues.
