…Magboro, Mowe residents to enjoy 24-hr uninterrupted electricity supply within 11 months

Oredola Adeola

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has committed to delivering 24-hour power supply to residents of Magboro and Mowe within the next 11 months, following the signing of a ₦180 billion, 30 MW power purchase agreement with Bresson A.S. and Magboro Power Company on Monday, October 28, 2024.

IBEDC spokesperson Busola Tunwase confirmed this in a statement to Advisors Reports on Monday, following the signing and unveiling ceremony.

She confirmed that the first shipment of Titan 170 Solar Turbines for the 90 MW Magboro Power Plant is scheduled to arrive by April 2025.

Engr. Francis Agoha, Acting Managing Director of IBEDC, in his remark noted that the partnership aligns with the federal government’s 6,000 MW power target for 2024 and reflects the company’s strategy to enhance energy availability for its customers.

“This agreement marks a major milestone in our ongoing efforts to provide consistent and affordable power to the Magboro community and beyond,” Agoha stated.

“We remain committed to building partnerships that drive progress and deliver sustainable solutions to the power challenges within our network.”

Advisors Reports learned that Magboro Power Company, an independent power developer, will play a key role in implementing the project, which aims to boost power supply in the region and support IBEDC’s reliability goals.
