The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has organized a three-day retreat for the House of Representatives Committee on Power, with the aim of fostering deeper collaboration and understanding of the Electricity Act 2023 to boost synergy and coordination in the power sector.

 

NERC in a statement obtained by Advisors Reports, disclosed that the retreat currently ongoing in Lagos, which began on March 13, 2024, and concluded on March 15, 2024, was not merely a meeting of minds but a strategic forum aimed at igniting progress in the power sector.

 

According to the statement, the retreat will help the legislatures to get firsthand information on the challenges facing the sector and what the legislative arm of government can do to assist in improving the power situation in the country.

 

The regulator further stated that the Retreat is a pivotal gathering that served as a platform to shed light on the current landscape of the Nigerian electricity supply industry.

 

NERC further said that the stakeholders will during the retreat engage in impassioned discussions, share invaluable insights, and forge collaborative efforts to confront the pressing challenges that loom over the electricity sector in Nigeria.

 

Meanwhile, the first day highlight of the retreat event was a captivating tour of the Egbin Thermal Power Station, offering the National Assembly Committee members a firsthand glimpse into the inner workings of the industry.

 

According to NERC, the immersive experience provided a powerful catalyst for the members to grasp the complexities and hurdles facing the sector, empowering them to chart a course towards a more electrified tomorrow.

Advisors Reports gathered the House of Representatives Committee on Power at the Retreat was led by Hon. Victor Nwokolo.
