Dangote Petroleum Refinery has further slashed the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit from N865 to N835, leading to a reduction in pump prices at partner retail outlets—MRS, AP (Ardova), Heyden, Optima Energy, Hyde, and Tecno Oil—to N890 per litre, down from N920 in Lagos.
Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, revealed this in a statement obtained by Advisors Reports on Wednesday.
According to him, the price reduction will be effective on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, marking the second price reduction within a week.
He further stated that petrol prices at all partner retail outlets have been adjusted accordingly, with the South-West now selling at N900 per litre, down from N930.
The North-West and North-Central regions at N910, reduced from N940; and the South-East, South-South, and North-East regions at N920 per litre, down from the previous N950.
Chiejina explained that the Dangote through the reduction in the retail prices of the high-quality petrol from its facility in Lagos, reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality petrol at affordable rates, benefiting consumers across Nigeria.
He added that the company is working collaboratively with its partners to ensure equitable reflection of this price reduction.
Advisors Reports gathered that Dangote Petroleum Refinery has consistently worked to reduce the prices of petrol and other refined petroleum products, ensuring the continued benefit of Nigerian consumers.
The Dangote Group’s spokesperson explained that in February, the refinery reduced prices twice by N125.
He emphasized that in addition, products such as diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) have also experienced significant price reductions due to the refinery’s sustained efforts.
Chiejena said, “We anticipated that this latest reduction in PMS prices will generate a positive ripple effect throughout various sectors of the economy, providing much-needed relief to consumers and contributing to broader economic growth, particularly during the Easter season.
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a steady supply of premium-quality petroleum products, with sufficient reserves to meet domestic demand, along with a surplus for export.
“This strategy is designed to support the stability of the domestic market while also contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves,” he explained.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery, as result of this development, has challenged petroleum marketers and distributors to prioritise sourcing their products directly from its facility rather than relying on importation.
This, according to the company, will ensure that the impact of the price reductions is felt nationwide.
