… insist payment claim by H-PTP not yet finalized, still under audit, review
Green Energy International Ltd. (GEIL) and Lekoil Nigeria Ltd. have clarified that the ongoing legal matter referenced in recent media reports stems from a contractual dispute with service provider H-PTP, emphasizing that the issue is currently under arbitration in line with agreed dispute-resolution terms.
This clarification was established in a joint statement issued by the companies and obtained by Advisors Reports on Tuesday.
Advisors Reports gathered that the asset linked to both companies in this dispute is the Otakikpo Marginal Field, located in Rivers State.
GEIL is the operator of the Otakikpo Marginal Field located within Oil Mining Lease 11, and Lekoil Nigeria Ltd. is the technical and financial partner supporting the field’s development and production operations.
While H‑PTP is a technical contractor engaged to provide project management and well-engineering services for the Otakikpo-04 and Otakikpo-05 wells.
The operator and its partner therefore explained that the claim relates to a commercial contract and that the sums cited publicly remain unliquidated and subject to audit and review under the parties’ contractual framework.
They stressed that the dispute is properly before an arbitral tribunal, as stipulated in their agreement.
According to the statement, “Prior to the reported interim application cited in media coverage, both firms disclosed that they had already initiated proceedings before the Federal High Court in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/225/26.
“The filing includes a request for an anti-suit injunction intended to preserve the arbitration process and prevent parallel litigation.
The companies further disclosed that those processes were duly filed and served on the service provider before the subsequent court action referenced in reports.
The firms stated that, given the matter is under active judicial and arbitral consideration, it would be inappropriate to comment further on substantive issues at this stage.
They also reassured stakeholders that operations across their assets continue safely and in full compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations, with no disruption recorded.
Green Energy and Lekoil Nigeria reiterated their intention to vigorously pursue their rights through the appropriate legal channels and noted they reserve the right to respond to any inaccurate or defamatory publications relating to the dispute.
Advisors Reports gathered that the central issue is not operational or regulatory, but a commercial payment disagreement and a legal contest over the proper forum for resolving it – arbitration versus court proceedings.
