President Bola Tinubu has appointed Engr. Adesayo Michael as the Managing Director/CEO of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, replacing Mr. Aliyu Tahir whose four-year, single-term tenure ended on December 31, 2025, and was not renewed.
This was disclosed in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President Information & Strategy) on Tuesday.
According to him, the President has sent the NEMSA nominee to the Senate for confirmation.
Other Board members of NEMSA appointed by the President include: Engr. Aliyu Abdulazeez (Executive Director, Technical); Ikechi Clara Nwosu (Chairman, South East); Zubair Abdur’rauf Idris (Member); Igba Elizabeth (Member-North Central); Sani Alhaji Shehu (Member–North East); Adeyemi Adetunji (Member–South West); Engr Emmanuel Eneji Nkpe (Member–South South) and Engr. Charles Ogbonna Asogwa (South East).
Advisors Reports gathered that Engr. Michael is a seasoned electrical engineering professional with extensive experience in Nigeria’s power and metering sector, having held leadership roles in technical metering and power systems before his appointment as Managing Director/CEO of NEMSA.
He previously served as Head of Metering at Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) and has worked with organisations such as Conlog Meter Services, Mojec International, and the NEMSA National Meter Test Station, where he focused on metering standards, calibration, and compliance.
He is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a member of professional bodies including the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and other technical organisations.
He has also chaired technical committees like the Nigerian Metering Code Review Panel (2018) and contributed to national quality infrastructure projects with UNIDO.
