Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited has commenced the installation of $82 million generating units 1G3 and 1G4 in the empty pits at the Kainji Hydropower Plant, aiming to raise the plant’s total installed capacity from 760 megawatts (MWs) to 980 MWs.

 

Managing Director Engr. Lamu Audu made this known in a recent interview by China Global Television Network speaking about our capacity expansion project.

 

According to him, the 1G3 and 1G4 installation project is being handled by Power China and costing approximately $82,000,000.00($82million).

 

Engr.  Audu revealed that his company is committed to tackling the issue of inadequate and lack of quality electricity in the country through the strategic expansion of the Kainji Hydropower Plant.

 

The MD of Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited said, “However, we are determined to change this narrative through our investments in hydropower infrastructure.”

 

Furthermore, Audu highlighted the strong partnership between Mainstream Energy Solutions and China, which according to him extends beyond the current contract to install the new facilities.

 

“There are lots of opportunities to be gained from partnering and associating with China,” he revealed, hinting at the potential for future collaborations and technological advancements in the sector.

 

Advisors Reports however gathered that the strategic move by Mainstream Energy Solutions with the Chinese companies handling the various aspect of operations in the dams, is expected to have a significant impact on Nigeria’s power landscape, providing much-needed relief to households and businesses across the country
