…DisCos metered only 5.8m customers in Q4,23

… Ikeja, Abuja, Eko lead in metering performance with 73%, 61%, 59% respectively

In the fourth quarter of 2023, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) reported that the 11 Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) metered only 5,842,726 customers out of a total of 13,162,572 customers.

 

The statutory report by NERC therefore revealed that during the Q4,2023, a total of 7,319,846 customers were unmetered.

 

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission( NERC) made this known in its fourth quarter electricity report released on Wednesday and obtained by Advisors Reports.

 

The Commission revealed that the 11 DisCos installed a total of 111,225 prepaid meters during that period,  resulting in an overall metering rate of 44.39%, during the Q4,2023.

 

Advisors Reports gathered that Ikeja Electric during the period emerged with the overall best metering performance , having achieved a 73 percent metering rate, with 898,000 customers metered and 14,000 meters installed.

 

The Abuja DisCo followed with a 61% metering rate, 856 metered customers, and 22,000 meters installed.

 

Eko DisCo had a 59% metering rate, 431,000 total metered customers, and 2,000 meters installed.

 

Others are Jos Disco achieved a 33% metering rate, with a total of 243,000 metered customers and 3,000 new installations.

 

Kaduna Disco had a 24% metering rate, with 206,000 total metered customers and 3,000 new installations.

 

Kano Disco also recorded a 24% metering rate, with 210,000 total metered customers and 400 new installations.

 

Yola Disco had a 15% metering rate, with 126,000 total metered customers and 1,000 new installations.
